Privacy Policy

privacy policy.

Effective date: April 28, 2026.
Last updated: when this all becomes a problem.

1. Who runs this site

This website is operated under the pseudonym “Idiot Again” by a private individual. The operator is the data controller for the purposes of EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and any equivalent local law that applies to you.

If you need to contact the operator about your data, write to hi@idiotagain.com or use the form at /contact. We aim to respond within 30 days, often sooner.

2. What data we collect

We collect the absolute minimum needed to run a blog and a newsletter:

  • If you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address. That’s it. No name, no birthday, no zip code.
  • If you visit any page: your IP address (anonymized after 30 days), browser type, and pages visited. This is logged by our hosting provider for security and basic statistics.
  • If you submit the contact form: the email and name you choose to give us, plus the message. Same data lives in our inbox until we delete it.
  • Cookies: see the cookie policy.

3. Why we collect it

  • Newsletter delivery — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
  • Site security and basic analytics — our legitimate interest in not letting bots melt the server (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Legal obligations — keeping consent records and complying with data requests (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

4. Who we share it with

Nobody, on purpose. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. The only third parties that touch your data are necessary infrastructure:

  • Hostinger International Ltd. (Lithuania, EU) — hosting provider. They process server logs and email infrastructure under their own privacy policy.
  • The newsletter provider (when configured) — for sending emails. They process only the email address you submitted.
  • Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google’s CDN, which receives your IP address as part of any web request. This is only triggered after you accept cookies.

5. How long we keep it

  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
  • Server access logs: 30 days.
  • Contact form submissions: until we reply and forget about them, typically under 90 days.
  • Consent records (Complianz): 12 months.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA you have the right to:

  • Know what data we have about you.
  • Get a copy of it.
  • Correct it.
  • Have it deleted (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restrict or object to its processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Spain: AEPD; in the EU: your national DPA; in the UK: ICO).

To exercise any of these, hit reply to a newsletter or write to hi@idiotagain.com. We do not require you to identify yourself beyond what’s needed to confirm we hold your data.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children under 16 (or under 13 in the US). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data, write to us and we’ll delete it.

8. International transfers

Server is in the EU (Hostinger, Lithuania). Some third parties (Google Fonts) may transfer data to the US under Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

9. Changes to this policy

If anything material changes, we update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be communicated by email.
